The Rally 5/17/2012

The Washington DC parks said there were about 15,000 people in the Mall today.
Those were Realtors from all, over the USA..including Hawaii and Alaska. There was a train with New Jerseyites …about 250 and busses from all, over. A very well, organizes event. There is the outfit that arranges these events…and I met the ” temp” who was one of the workers holding the state signs. Every region was identified with signage. ( the fellow holding our region 2 sign was an unemployed former dietitian) …with a masters degree. There was the catering company that provided the breakfast boxes, and later lunch. The DJ was introduced…and commented on the help that the MID had provided in his ownership. ( then made a plug for a used patio set…if anyone knew of one being given away.)
I think they provided a deal….he’d do a DJ job for such a contribution. There were some speeches. We all had received blue Realtor shirts, a bag with a cushion. Rain protector and a granola bar and water. Busses lined up at our hotel by 7 am…and took us to the Mall. Later the busses drove us back to the Marriott Wardman. ( the exhibitors wanted to make sure that the Realtors showed up,to go thru the exhibit hall.)
The Rally was a last minute event, and all the morning events had to be re scheduled.
The exhibit area at the Marriott included all aspects of educational and business products.
Many Internet, sign companies, service providers had exhibits. The latest in tools for agents and. Brokers to buy.
Did the Rally have any effect?
Don’t know….but I think it helped Realtors see that the lobbying effect can be visible and reach legislators…..which is where the impact on legislation can be made.
Returning to the 3 hotels, the Marriott, the Omni and the Hilton, education sessions continued and the Boards got back to the networking routine that is essential in this business.
