Garden State, Flower show

LilyYou do realize that we are the Garden State when you see the exhibits and interest in gardening in New Jersey! The 10th annual show at the New Jersey Convention Center in Edison this weekend was very well attended.There was information on the 22 public gardens in the state: go to; http://wwwgardenstategardens.org and see them all -2 are in Montclair, the http://www.vanvleck.org and the www.prebyirisgardens.org – but there are volunteer opportunities also at . www.essexcountynj.org: www.citybloom.org, ( a Greater Newark Conservancy) – and many others. A beautiful one is the Leonard L Buck Gardens of Far Hills, www.somersetcountyparks.org – Ths Flower show had information on all sorts of gardening aspects: deer control, pest controls, plants and planting information – plus the examples of many of New Jersey’s top landscape designers and architects. The next big show will be: Spring Fest, March 15 -18, in Augusta; www.springfestgardenshow.org : or the NJ Landscape show- WEd. Feb 29 at the Meadowlands , Plaza Drive, Secaucus . go to: www/njlca.org.

People were buying orchid plants ( $15) honey, nuts, gardening tools, butterfly pictures etc , pussy willows, tulips, popcorn, – gardening sculpture, etc etc etc etc. You get the picture – and last but not least – the New Jersey Botanical Garden, at Ringwood state Park, in Ringwood. www.njbg.org open year round – from 8 am to 8 pm! – plus the historic Ringwood Manor.
